  The study found that during the natural fall of rose petals, With the increase in ethylene production, the transport of auxin and sucrose in the petals separation zone gradually weakened; auxin and sucrose treatments can significantly delay the rapid petal shedding induced by ethylene. Silencing the auxin response factor gene RhARF7 and the sucrose transporter gene RhSUC2 can significantly inhibit the sucrose transport in the petal separation zone and accelerate the petal shedding of rose; silencing RhARF7 and RhSUC2 double silence, and the single silencing of both have the effect on petal shedding There was no significant difference; but while silencing RhARF7, overexpression of RhSUC2 significantly restored the early shedding phenotype caused by RhARF7 silencing. It indicates that the RhARF7-RhSUC2 module mediates the interaction of auxin and sucrose and regulates petal shedding.

  This research was funded by the National Key Research and Development Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China Funding from key international cooperation and other projects has provided new knowledge for the elucidation of the sucrose-mediated interaction mechanism of ethylene and auxin in plant organ shedding, and laid a theory for the creation of rose germplasm resources and the research and development of postharvest preservation technology basis.
